Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Hey Chewy collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers both the Hey Chewy app and the heychewy.com website, including the pre-launch waitlist, and applies to the Service operated by Hey Chewy.

1. Information you provide

• Waitlist: if you join the waitlist on heychewy.com before launch, we collect the email address you enter, so we can tell you when Hey Chewy opens. We store it with our email provider (Brevo) and use it only for launch and product announcements. Every message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete the address at any time.
• Account information: your email address, display name, password (stored hashed by our authentication provider), and birthdate (used only to confirm you meet the minimum age).
• Profile and content: dog profiles you create, photos and videos you upload, captions, comments, direct messages, group posts, reports, and support requests.

2. Information collected automatically

• Usage and device data: pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and similar diagnostic data.
• Cookies and local storage: used to keep you signed in and to remember preferences. Analytics, where enabled, uses similar technologies.

3. How we use information

• To operate and provide the Service, including your feed, messaging, groups, and Treats.
• To keep the Service safe: detecting spam, abuse, and content that violates our rules, including scanning uploaded images and text with automated moderation tools.
• To fix bugs and improve the Service, including crash diagnostics and product analytics.
• To communicate with you about your account, security, and support requests.
• To comply with law and enforce our Terms.

4. Service providers

We share limited information with vendors that help us run the Service, under contracts that restrict their use of it:

• Supabase: database, authentication, file storage, and hosting.
• OpenAI (and, if enabled, Google Cloud Vision or Hive): automated moderation of uploaded images and text. Content sent for moderation is used to return a safety assessment.
• Sentry (if enabled): crash and error diagnostics.
• PostHog (if enabled): product analytics.
• Brevo: sending verification, password reset and notification emails, and holding the pre-launch waitlist list.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Legal and safety disclosures

We may disclose information to respond to legal process, to enforce our Terms, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hey Chewy, our users, or the public. We report suspected child sexual abuse material to NCMEC and law enforcement as required by law.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you request account deletion, we soft-delete your account immediately and permanently delete your data after a 30-day grace period, except where we are required to keep certain records longer for legal, safety, or backup purposes. Backups are cycled out on a rolling basis.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, download, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can download a copy of your data or delete your account from Account Settings in the app, or reach us through hello@heychewy.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

8. Children

Hey Chewy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, reach us through hello@heychewy.com and we will delete it.

9. International users

We operate from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the US, your information will be processed in the US and other countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be announced in the app and reflected in the effective date above.
